Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 8, 2026

This policy explains what information JsonDev (jsondev.app) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: the JSON you work with stays on your device. The site is supported by advertising from Google AdSense, which uses cookies as described below.

1. Your JSON stays in your browser

Everything you paste, type or upload — formatting, validation, repair, the tree view and conversion to YAML, CSV or XML — is processed locally by JavaScript running in your browser. We do not upload, store, log or share the contents of your documents, and we have no server that receives them.

Load from URL. If you use “Load URL”, your browser requests that address directly from the server you entered. The request is sent without cookies or a referrer, and the response is never sent to us. That server's own privacy practices apply to the request.

2. Information saved on your device

To restore your work between visits, JsonDev saves the following in your browser's local storage:

  • your current editor input (only if it is under about 4 MB) and settings such as indentation, layout, word wrap and minimap;
  • your light or dark theme choice.

This data never leaves your device. The Clear button empties the saved input; to remove everything, clear site data for jsondev.app in your browser settings.

3. Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners are third-party vendors that use cookies (and similar technologies such as device identifiers) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad, to measure ad performance and to help prevent fraud.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Ad requests include standard information your browser sends, such as your IP address, browser type, the page URL and cookie identifiers. Ad requests never include the content of your JSON.

Your choices:

  • Opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings.
  • Opt out of personalized advertising from many third-party vendors at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Ads may then be less relevant, but the tool keeps working.

4. Hosting and service providers

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data needed to deliver pages and protect the service — such as IP addresses, request URLs and browser information — under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Fonts are bundled with the site and are not loaded from third-party servers. We do not use analytics or tracking tools of our own.

Because we do not collect your JSON and do not hold accounts, we have no personal profile about you to access, correct or delete. Advertising data is held by Google and its partners; use the controls above or Google's own privacy tools to manage it. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have additional rights, including the right to object to or opt out of personalized advertising. To exercise any right or ask a question, contact us at the address below.

6. Children

JsonDev is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be reflected on this page before they take effect.
